1999

1999

10. South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut
(dir. Trey Parker)
9. Dogma (dir. Kevin Smith)
8. Boys Don't Cry (dir. Kimberly Peirce)
7. Bringing Out The Dead (dir. Martin Scorsese)
6. Office Space (dir. Mike Judge)

5. Three Kings (dir. David O. Russell)
I remember watching this movie and thinking "wow, how come they can't make these movies all the time." The answer is quite simple. If they did, they wouldn't be so special
4. Magnolia (dir. Paul Thomas Anderson)
One of the more transcendent movie experiences ever. The ending is biblical and everything before that is nothing less than amazing. It's 3 hours long though...
3. Fight Club (dir. David Fincher)
My favorite most deeply homoerotic movie ever!
2. Being John Malkovich (dir. Spike Jonze)
One of the best of the year simply because of the audacity of its plot. That it works is a testament to the brilliance of the acting, writing and directing. In any other hands, this
could've been ludicrous.
1. All About My Mother (dir. Pedro Almodovar)
It's my favorite movie of the year simply because of the way that it resonated with me. It made me be filled with happiness and sadness. I felt invigorated.

I associate Princess Mononoke as being more a 1999 release for me so that would probably be my #1 for 1999 as well.
