There was a thread in the filmspotting forums that discussed the best films of the millennium,I got to thinking: "What are the best films of the millennium?" I had already submitted a couple of preliminary lists but those weren't really representative of my current state of mind. So I made this list it to try to atone for that. I'm kind of gravitating toward something more purely cinematic and less... not? Not all of these are examples of that. Some of them are just films that are dear to my heart for whatever reason. Anyway...

is the something different more minimalist film? i reckon about a third of your films would fall into that camp (without going back over them to get a better numerical sense). also, love the Tennenbaums frame. are these frames all readily available online, or do you search through each film to find one you want to use? nice list

There's probably something more minimalistic going on (see: all the asian stuff pretty much). But I think there's something to it more than that. Whatever.
The stills are probably available online. A lot of them are from dvdbeaver. Some were found in a private community.

I think there's more going on than just more minimalist films. I'd love to hear what it is you think makes these films so special (for you).
Also, you need to watch Still Life again. As it stands, its too far down on the list :).
